Ignition integrates with Xero to automatically create and push invoices according to the billing information specified in your proposals.

See the steps below on how to connect Xero to your Ignition account.

Note: We do not currently support the use of multiple accounting platforms at once. If you have integrated with one platform, you must switch off that integration before connecting to a different platform.

How to connect to your Xero Accounting Platform

1. Connecting via Apps tab:

Go to Apps Xero and click on Connect your account

You'll be prompted to log in to Xero if you aren't already logged in, through a pop-up box. Once logged in, you will be prompted to authorize the connection between Ignition and Xero.

Note: If you have multiple Xero files, be sure to connect the right one!

Please note: We do not integrate with Xero Cashbooks for personal use - we only integrate with the full Xero platform for businesses.

Once you've authorized the connection, you will be redirected back to Ignition.

Connecting via the New Proposal Editor:

1. In the New Proposal Editor, click the Client dropdown → Sync clients from your apps.

Please note: If you connect via the New Proposal Editor, you will still need to complete the setup of your Xero connection. Navigate to the Apps tab → Xero to finish the setup.

2. Now, we'll need to set your App Settings before you can enable the integration. Please see this article on configuring the specific Xero Settings

3. You will also be required to map your tax rates from Xero. If you charge tax, please ensure that this is completed to enable tax on your proposals!

Click this article to read more about configuring and mapping tax rates.

Next, click on Enable Xero to connect Ignition and Xero!

Connection Settings

Ignition connects to a number of fields in Xero - most of them are the ones you can edit under the Xero settings mentioned above, and then there are the client names in Xero. If you make a change to any of the settings from within Xero, or change a client name and need to see it reflected in Ignition straight away, you can click Sync to refresh the data. We also refresh this data once a day at 12am.

Please note, Ignition does facilitate a 2 way sync of client information to Xero - it connects your Ignition clients to Xero clients through Mapping.

If you need to connect to another organization in Xero, or remove the connection, simply click the Disable Xero button and go through the steps in this article again to link them.

Note: We do not currently support the use of multiple accounting platforms at once. If you have integrated with one platform, you must switch off that integration before connecting to a different platform.

Reconnecting to a different Xero account

If you wish to disconnect and reconnect to a different Xero account, you will need to re-map all of your clients in Ignition. Otherwise, invoices will not be deployed!

To do this, click into the specific client → Edit Client → Apps tab and select the correct client to remap to. Then, press Save!

Please note: We are currently unable to do this in bulk.
