Proposal templates are a new efficient way to create a new proposal using our New Proposal Editor, giving you a kick-start to the proposal building process! You can use proposal templates to:

  • Get high quality proposals out the door faster while saving time
  • Work smarter by creating reusable proposal templates your entire team can use to standardize client engagements (with less hand-holding)
  • Simplify your client proposal process by creating standardized templates for your most popular services

Custom Templates give you the ability to create custom templates that's unique to your account. Practice Ignition subscribers currently on the Professional and Scale plans will automatically have access to this new feature.

Proposal Templates Overview

You can find proposal templates within the New Proposal Editor when you are creating or editing a proposal.

Click Templates to make the templates slider appear.

Here, you will see the the proposal templates slider that appears on the right.

Custom Templates

If you are on our Professional or Scale plan, you have the ability to create your own unique Custom templates! Please note that only Practice Ignition Administrator users can create a custom template.

Creating custom templates (from scratch)

  1. Create a new proposal
  2. Build out the proposal based on the services you wish to offer
  3. Click on the Templates menu → Save as template
  4. In the pop-up box that appears, select Create new from the dropdown menu and enter a name and description for the template (there is a 40 character limit for name and 60 for description).
  5. Click Save template! The template will now appear in your proposal templates library for all users.

Creating custom templates (from existing draft)

  1. Open an existing draft of a New Proposal that you have previously created
  2. Make any changes to the proposal as you wish
  3. Click on Templates → Save as template
  4. In the pop-up box that appears, select Create new from the dropdown menu and enter a name and description for the template (there is a 40 character limit for name and 60 for description).
  5. Click Save template! The template will now appear in your proposal templates library for all users.

Editing an existing custom template

Please note that only Practice Ignition Administrator users can edit existing templates.

If you need to update an existing template, you will need to overwrite the old one. Just follow the steps below:

  1. Create a new proposal
  2. Load the custom template that you'd like to edit
  3. Make the desired changes to the custom template
  4. Click on the Templates menu → Save as template
  5. In the pop-up box that appears in the drop down menu, select the specific custom template that you'd like to overwrite.
  6. Click Overwrite template.

Please note: If you have changed a service in your service library, you will also need to update it in any custom proposal templates that contain that service. Otherwise, your proposal template will pull through the old service!

Deleting a custom template

Please note that only Practice Ignition Administrator users can delete a custom template.

  1. Navigate to the Custom templates slider when you are creating or editing a new proposal.
  2. Click the three dots next to the specific custom template → Delete.
  3. Confirm your action to delete.

User permissions

Different user permissions within Practice Ignition will affect how each user type can control proposal templates.

  • Admin - Can create, edit, overwrite, use and delete custom templates.
  • Standard - Use custom proposal templates only

If you are a standard type user in Practice Ignition, please reach out to an Admin user and ask them to assist with any required changes to your templates.

FAQ

  • How come I don't have the ability to create custom templates in my account?

    Custom templates are only available on Professional and Scale plans. Additionally, this feature is part of our New Proposal Editor experience and is not available on our Classic Proposal Editor. Consider whether the New Proposal Editor is right for you by reading this article. If you would like to opt-in, see this article on enabling the New Proposal Editor
  • What happens with custom templates if I downgrade to the Starter plan?

    You will no longer be able to create, edit, delete or use custom templates in newly created proposals. For draft proposals that have been saved from a template, you will still be able to see and edit the proposal as per usual.

  • Can I use custom templates during my trial?

    Yes, you can! You have full access to custom templates during your Practice Ignition trial.
  • Do I need to opt-in to use proposal templates?

    If you would like to use custom templates, you need to be on a Professional or Scale plan. Upgrade your plan or contact your Customer Success or Account Manager to help!

  • How do I create multiple draft proposals from one template?

    We are currently developing bulk proposal creation from templates, so this feature isn't available just yet. Keep an eye out for updates in the future!
