Editing a service in the New Proposal Editor

Editing a service in a New Proposal Editor has never been more flexible!

Whenever you edit a service in the New Proposal Editor, the changes will only be made for the proposal you are working on and will NOT affect any other proposal and will NOT change your service library templates.

This means that you have full control and flexibility over making proposals highly customized for your clients if you wish.

However if you would like to make the changes to your service templates, you now have the ability to do that directly within the editor!

How to edit a service for a specific proposal

If you want to add or change information for a service on a proposal, click the down-facing arrow next to the service name once the service has been added.

This will bring up a slider and on this screen you can make changes to the Service Description, Default Price Type, Value, Tax Rate and Service Terms.

If you are using Xero, you will also be able to click into the Apps tab and change the Xero Account.

Once you make all the desired changes, click Save.

This will save the changes to the service for the current proposal that you are working on.

You will notice that you are unable to change the Service Name as it is greyed out. If you would like to change the service name entirely, you will have to check the Overwrite service in library checkbox.

See the next section for more information!

Overwrite service templates in your library

Please note: Only Administrator users can make changes to a service in the proposal and overwrite the existing service in the library.

If you would like to make changes to the specific service template in your library, you can simply check the Overwrite service in library checkbox at the top of the slider.

This will unlock the ability for you to make changes to the Service Name if you wish.

If you are using Xero, QuickBooks, or Xero Practice Manager, you will also be able to click into the Apps tab and change the Xero Account, QuickBooks Service, or XPM Job Template mapping.

Please note that once you are done and press Save, the changes will be made to the proposal you are currently editing as well as overwrite the specific service template in your service library!

If you make any changes to the XPM Job Template mapping, the new templates will be populated in the Automation step as well as the Workflows tab when you are building out new workflows for your client.

Use cases

Sample and example services

When you create an Ignition account, you will have some sample services that you can start using that are already located in your service library.

Alternatively, we also have some Example Services that you can import on-demand to get started with a large service library as quickly as possible!

You can simply start creating your proposals and use the Edit service functionality to quickly make changes and also overwrite them in your Service library in one step!

Remember to check the Overwrite service in library checkbox when you are doing this!

Provided Proposal Templates

We also have a range of Provided Proposal Templates that have been authored by our own Heads of Accounting and have been tailored to your specific region.

You can use these one-click templates and then use the Edit service functionality to quickly make changes and tailor it to your client’s needs.

If you would like to save any of the services within the Provided Templates to your service library, you can check the Overwrite service in library checkbox whilst editing a service to ensure it is saved for future use!
